SOC.7.SWA.SS7H2.a Explain how European partitioning in the Middle East after the brakeup of the Ottoman Empire led to regional conflict
the ottoman empire mussssssssssssss-limmmmmmmmmm:)
The Ottoman Empire controlled most of the Middle East (as we know it today) from the 1300s to the end of world war 1. At the beggining of World War 1 the Ottoman Empire had shrunk in size. The Ottoman Empire weakened because it tried to rule big territory with leadders that could not manage it. When World War 1 started The Ottoman Empire joined forces with Germany and Italy. When the war was over their side lost and The Ottoman Empire was over thrown
ethnic conflict
When the Ottoman Empire ended it was broken up into smaller countries. The treaty that made the new boundaries was called the San Remo Agreement. The European politicians who decided where the boundaries of the new countries would be paid no attention to ethnic and religious groups who were already living the areas. As a result many different groups tried to live together but there was a lot of ethnic conflict.
